Baby Grace’s Denver newborn session was more than just a day spent capturing those tiny fingers and soft snuggles. It was a celebration of life, love, and a beautiful friendship. Markie, Grace’s mom, isn’t just any client—she’s a dear friend and a talented photographer herself. Being invited into this sacred moment in her family’s life was truly an honor.
From the moment I walked into their home, there was a peaceful stillness that seemed to reflect Grace’s gentle spirit. Wrapped in the softest neutral tones, she slept soundly through most of the session, as if she knew this moment was being lovingly documented. The natural light poured in perfectly, highlighting every delicate feature—her rosy cheeks, the tiniest lashes, and those perfectly curled toes.
Watching Markie with her daughter was something special. As a photographer, she’s usually behind the lens, capturing memories for others. But this time, she got to be in the frame—radiating the quiet strength and love that new motherhood brings. Seeing her in that role, so full of tenderness and awe, was both surreal and deeply moving.
There’s something incredibly vulnerable and powerful about photographing another photographer—especially one you admire and care about. Markie trusted me to tell this part of her story, and that trust means everything. It reminded me why I do what I do: to freeze time in the most fleeting of seasons. To give people a way to return to these moments, over and over again.
