Denver Botanic Gardens Family Photographer | First Birthday Session
There is something so special about getting to watch families grow.
Just one year ago, I photographed this sweet family as they welcomed their baby into the world during their newborn session. Returning to photograph them again as they celebrated her first birthday felt like such a full-circle moment. These are the stories I love documenting most the chapters in between, the little changes that happen far too quickly, and the memories that deserve to be preserved.
For this session, we met on a beautiful summer morning at Denver Botanic Gardens. Morning sessions here are some of my favorites. The gardens are quiet and peaceful, the temperatures are comfortable for little ones, and the soft dappled light filtering through the trees creates the most beautiful backdrop for photographs.
We spent the morning strolling through winding garden paths surrounded by lush greenery, blooming roses, and the vibrant colors that make the gardens so magical this time of year. Rather than rushing from spot to spot, we embraced a slower pace; cuddle with mom and dad, and simply enjoy being together.
One-year sessions are such a meaningful milestone. Babies are full of personality at this age the curious smiles, tiny steps, belly laughs, and sweet snuggles that seem to disappear overnight. It’s a season parents never want to forget, yet one that passes in the blink of an eye.
Looking through these images, I couldn’t help but think about how much had changed since their newborn session. The tiny baby I once photographed in her parents’ arms was now exploring the world around her with wide-eyed wonder. Watching families return year after year and preserving these milestones is one of the greatest honors of my job.
