There’s just something magical about summer evenings in Boulder, Colorado. The soft glow of the sun slipping behind the Flatirons, the warm breeze carrying laughter through the trees—it’s the perfect backdrop for capturing those fleeting, joy-filled moments with the people you love most.
This recent session with the this family was one of those sessions that makes me fall in love with photography all over again. They brought their twin girls—energetic, silly, full of personality—and we met up just before sunset in a quiet meadow just outside Boulder, Colorado. The light was golden, the grass swayed gently in the breeze, and the girls couldn’t stop giggling as they played tag, picked wildflowers, and snuck in tickles.
Twice the Giggles, Twice the Love
Photographing twins is always a treat, and these two were no exception. They had a bond that only twins can share—one minute finishing each other’s sentences, the next sprinting off in opposite directions! What I loved most was how the Martins embraced the chaos. They let their girls be themselves, and the result? Natural, joy-filled images that truly reflect their life right now. Unscripted, a little wild, and completely beautiful.

Summer sessions are some of my favorite to photograph. The days are long, the colors are rich, and families are more relaxed—school’s out, vacations are on the horizon, and the evenings stretch out like golden invitations to make memories. Whether we’re running through tall grass, skipping rocks by the creek, or sharing popsicles on a blanket, there’s a special kind of freedom and fun that only summer brings.
